After the big earthquake in Port-au-Prince, everything changed. A lot of the people who emigrated to the capital from their rural communities lost everything: Their home, their jobs and in many cases also their loved ones. Unable to survive in Port-au-Prince they returned to their origins in the rural communities. Their families already in difficulty to make a decent living found their household almost doubled. And the new family members came back from Port-au-Prince with no money, no jobs and their spirit broken thus placing a big burden on their families in the rural communities.
This was the reality of hundreds of villages in the northern department. There is no village in the Northern Department that did not experience children returning home from Port-au-Prince after the earthquake. Including Phaeton. Learn more about Phaeton
